The Lost Boys and Girls

--Sudan is located in Africa --Located next to the Red Sea

 What do you think the weather is like in Sudan?  Do you think the boys and girls go to school?  What do you think their life is like in comparison to yours?

 Fold a piece of paper in half, on the top half create a list with your elbow partner of material objects that you could not live without  Then list necessities that you need to survive

 Now on the bottom half of the paper, again with your elbow partner, list the material objects you believe a Sudanese 8 th grader can’t live without  Then list the necessities they need to survive

 Excerpt taken from the chapter titled “John” on page 85. ◦ “So began what turned into a 500-mile journey. We walked from village to village. The towns had names such as Raat, Buma, Kapoeta, and Nairus. We kept moving farther south to get away from the fighting. We eventually realized that if we ran out of safe land in Sudan we would have to go into the neighboring country of Kenya. At the end of the line was Kapoeta then Lokichokio, just over the border. If we made it that far, the pursuing armies would not follow us.”
