What is Wireless Communication ? 4/15/2017 12:40 AM What is Wireless Communication ? Wireless communication is the transfer of information between two or more points that are not connected by wires or cables. This is a broad term that incorporates all procedures and forms of connecting and communicating between two or more devices using a wireless signal through wireless communication technologies and devices. Wireless operations permit services, such as long-range communications, that are impossible or impractical to implement with the use of wires.  Wireless networking is used to meet many needs. Perhaps the most common use is to connect laptop users who travel from location to location. Another common use is for mobile networks that connect via satellite. A wireless transmission method is a logical choice to network a LAN segment that must frequently change locations. A Company Selling Technology and not just a Product © 2007 Microsoft Corporation. WL-GPS : GPS Application Trainer This kit system tracks up to twelve satellites simultaneously using the antenna provided with the system. All GPS antennas operate on the line-of-sight principle; the antenna must have line-of-sight visibility with at least three GPS satellites for better analysis and understanding of GPS. Mounting the Trainer’s antenna outside a classroom window may provide the necessary visibility. Students can perform various experiments using this trainer. The Experimental Manual contains excellent discussion on several GPS and GPS related topics, affording students a thorough understanding of the Global Positioning System. Navigation concepts and GPS background are discussed. Students learn about latitude and longitude and the measurement accuracy of GPS hardware. The software analyzes the GPS data and provides a navigation display. The software also has a ‘Trace Window’ that displays analysis of received NMEA sentences. What is GPS? The Global Positioning System (GPS) is a satellite-based navigation system made up of a network of 24 satellites placed into or bit by the U.S. Department of Defense. GPS was originally intended for military applications, but in the 1980s, the government made the system available for civilian use. GPS works in any weather conditions, anywhere in the world, 24 hours a day. There are no subscription fees or setup charges to use GPS. A Company Selling Technology and not just a Product

WL- Bluetooth : Bluetooth Trainer Kit 4/15/2017 12:40 AM WL- Bluetooth : Bluetooth Trainer Kit Bluetooth is a proprietary open wireless technology standard for exchanging data over short distances (using short wavelength radio transmissions) from fixed and mobile devices, creating personal area networks (PANs) with high levels of security. Bluetooth is a packet-based protocol with a master-slave structure. One master may communicate with up to 7 slaves in a piconet ; all devices share the master's clock. Bluetooth provides a secure way to connect and exchange information between devices such as faxes, mobile phones, telephones, laptops, personal computers, printers, Global Positioning System (GPS) receivers, digital cameras, and video game consoles. Bluetooth is a standard wire-replacement communications protocol primarily designed for low power consumption, with a short range (power-class-dependent, but effective ranges vary in practice; see table below) based on low-cost transceiver microchips in each device. WL-ZIGBEE : ZigBee Trainer Kit ZIGBEE Alliance is the creation of a reliable, low-cost, low-power, open global standard for low data rate wireless solutions, while allowing multi-hop routing of data. The ZigBee standard through mesh network capability and AES 128-bit encryption provides support for self-healing and security.  Applications include Building automation for commercial monitoring and control of facilities Remote control (RF4CE or RF for consumer electronics) Smart energy for home energy monitoring Health care for medical and fitness monitoring Home automation for control of smart homes Telecom Services and Network services related to large mesh networks  A Company Selling Technology and not just a Product

A ZIGBEE network topology which typically includes three types of devices or nodes: Coordinator: One coordinator exists in each network. It starts the network and handles management functions as well as data routing functions. Routers: In most cases, routers are also main-powered. They help carry data across multi-hop ZigBee networks including a variable number of routers and, in some cases, are without routers, thus, transforming the network into a point-to-multipoint. End Devices: These are devices that are battery-powered due to their low-power consumption. They sleep most of the time and wake up regularly to collect and transmit data. Devices such as sensors are configured as end devices. They are connected to the network through the routers. A Company Selling Technology and not just a Product

WL-RFID : RFID Trainer Kit Radio-frequency identification (RFID) is the use of an object (typically referred to as an RFID tag) applied to or incorporated into a product, animal, or person for the purpose of identification and tracking using radio waves. Some tags can be read from several meters away and beyond the line of sight of the reader. Radio-frequency identification comprises interrogators (also known as readers), and tags (also known as labels). Most RFID tags contain at least two parts. One is an integrated circuit for storing and processing information, modulating and demodulating a radio-frequency (RF) signal, and other specialized functions. The second is an antenna for receiving and transmitting the signal. A Company Selling Technology and not just a Product

WL-CDMA : CDMA Mobile Communication CDMA (Code-Division Multiple Access) refers to any of several protocols used in so-called second-generation (2G) and third-generation (3G) wireless communications. As the term implies, CDMA is a form of multiplexing, which allows numerous signals to occupy a single transmission channel, optimizing the use of available bandwidth. The technology is used in ultra-high-frequency (UHF) cellular telephone systems in the 800-MHz and 1.9-GHz bands. CDMA employs analog-to-digital conversion (ADC) in combination with spread spectrum technology. Audio input is first digitized into binary elements. The frequency of the transmitted signal is then made to vary according to a defined pattern (code), so it can be intercepted only by a receiver whose frequency response is programmed with the same code, so it follows exactly along with the transmitter frequency. There are trillions of possible frequency-sequencing codes, which enhances privacy and makes cloning difficult. The CDMA channel is nominally 1.23 MHz wide.  A Company Selling Technology and not just a Product
