MMORPG Diablo III Characters World Interface Towns Battle

 The goal of this computer based training (CBT) is to introduce the user to concepts of Massively Multiplayer Online Role Playing Game (MMORPG).  This CBT will focus on educating the user on terms and interfaces of Blizzard’s MMORPG called “Diablo III”.

 A genre of role-playing video game in which a very large number of players interact with one another within a virtual game (fantasy world)  Players assume the role of a character and take control over many of that character’s action

 Diablo III is an action role-playing video game developed and published by Blizzard Entertainment. It is the third installment in the Diablo franchise that features elements of the dungeon crawl and hack and slash genres.  The fantasy world of Diablo is called “Sanctuary”.

Diablo III have five distinct character classes. Each class has its own advantages and disadvantages. Players are able to choose which character class they would like to use.

 The barbarian is able to whirlwind through crowds, cleave through swarms, leap across crags, crush opponents upon landing, and grapple-snap enemies into melee range. The resource used by the barbarian is fury, which is generated through attacking enemies, getting attacked by enemies, and using certain abilities. Fury is used for certain strong abilities and degenerates over time.

 Demon hunters use crossbows as their main weapon and can also throw small bombs at enemies. The demon hunter is fueled by both discipline and hatred: Hatred is a fast regenerating resource that is used for attacks, while discipline is a slow regenerating resource used for defensive abilities.

 Monks are a melee attacker, using martial arts to cripple foes, resist damage, deflect projectiles, attack with blinding speed, and land explosive killing blows.

 The witch doctor has the ability to summon monsters, cast curses, harvest souls, and hurl poisons and explosives at his enemies. To power spells the Witch Doctor uses Mana, which regenerates slowly.

 The Wizard's abilities range from shooting lightning, fire and ice at their enemies to slowing time and teleporting past enemies and through walls. Wizards fuels their spells with arcane power, which is a fast regenerating power source.

Life represents the maximum amount of hit points that a character can have. After taking damage, the number of current hit points is decreased. When it reaches 0, you die.

Mana is the amount of energy that a character has. It is used for casting spells or applying abilities. If mana is depleted casting spells will be temporarily disabled, unless the character has generated enough mana again.

Inventory is a sort-of easily accessible see- through backpack, which contains all of the items you have gathered whilst adventuring in Sanctuary. In it, he/she carries the items that he/she can use anytime he/she wants, and that he/she is not wearing.

Skills refers to the Active Skills, the class- specific character abilities in Diablo III. There are around 25 skills per class, and they are wildly-varied, ranging from physical strikes to spell attacks to buffs, debuffs, mind control abilities, and many more.

 A town is an area within a Diablo game that is free of monsters, and where PvP combat is impossible. A sanctuary as well as a place to gather supplies for adventures ahead.  Towns acts as a central place in an area where no hostile actions can take place, and where adventurers can repair items, store their gear in a stash and barter or gamble for new ones.

NPC is an abbreviation for 'Non-Player Character'. They are computer controlled characters and usually encountered within the starting town. Most NPCs serve a purpose. They can provide various services: some heal the player and his minions, repair the player's items, trade with the player or provide gambling services.

Serves by making weapons, armor and anything that is required for the hero during his or her travels throughout Sanctuary. He also salvages items into materials that he can then use to fashion the items for you.

Stash or Private Stash is your personal storage chest. The storage space is slightly larger (48 slots) than your character's inventory(40 slots). Your Stash appears near your starting location in the town of each Act. You can move items and gold freely from your inventory to the Stash, or vice-versa.

 You will encounter danger after leaving the safety of towns. To counter these dangers, your character has the ability to fight.  Characters are able to perform melee, magic, and area attacks that damage monsters.

"Spells" is an informal term for skills that are cast as magical attacks, rather than skills that modify weapon-based attacks.

Area of Effect, or AoE or general term for effects, skills, spells or abilities that will affect an area, and the inhabitants of that area, rather than a single target.

Experience (XP) is a numerical value that is used to determine when you reach the next character level, also known as "leveling up". Every newly created character starts at level 1 with no experience. Each time you, or a member of your party kills a monster, you gain a certain number of experience points.

Monsters drop loot for each player that only he or she can see and pickup. If a player picks up the item and drops it back on the ground, any other player can see it and pick it up.
