Presentation transcript:

God is always going ahead of us preparing hearts for the 'good news of the kingdom of God,' and to receive Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord Because of this, we as followers of Jesus are called to go into all the world--on our own doorstep at home and in the far reaches of the world where the gospel has not been heard or received Sometimes we find that God is already blessing and drawing people to Himself in regions that until recently have had little Christian presence GOD IS A MISSIONAL GOD

The gospel is taking root so rapidly in the Majority World (Asia, Africa, Latin America) that the center of gravity of Christianity is shifting from the west to the Majority World Christianity in the west (Europe and North America) is losing numerically and in influence while the number of Christians continues to grow rapidly in many parts of the Majority World THE EFFECT IN EARLY 21ST CENTURY

Because (1) the numbers are still small in comparison with other religions (Buddhism, Hinduism, Islam), (2) Christianity is a recent religious movement, and (3) Christian institutions are still in their early stages; the churches are increasingly blessed with numbers but lack resources for facilities, well equipped Pastors and Church leaders, and Christian literatures. THE NEED IN THE MAJORITY WORLD

Specifically, more and more new Christians are (1) located in the great urban centers, and (2) upwardly mobile into the middle class; therefore, the demand for educated pastors to properly lead, preach and serve the church and wider society is urgent; the future will likely be neither looking to the West nor rejecting the influences of the West, but rather creating a blend of the two in ways that are creative and meaningful in their own 'global village' THE NEED IN THE MAJORITY WORLD

* With decline in numbers follows a decline in resources for global mission; consequently the major denominations have suffered constant cutbacks in recent years * So, denominations and seminaries have fewer resources as institutions to help the churches in the Majority World * Responsibility for maintaining a meaningful relationship with our brothers and sisters around the globe has had to shift to the local churches which themselves have minimal resources for nurturing relationships and supporting Christians in other parts of the world; but without meaningful communication, fellowship and partnership, Christians in the west are threatened with less and less awareness and contact with the global church THE PROBLEM IN THE WEST

* Continually participate in partnering with Christians in the Majority World through GCI and Kairos International University. *As Pastors teach in Mission field, you will be blessed and inspired by the spiritual vitality and deep commitment of our fellow Christians, and hopefully learn from them. THE OPPORTUNITY AND BENEFIT FOR CHURCHES

* Learn what it is like to live in a multi-faith world in a way that challenges us to recognize someone from another faith as our neighbor whom we are called to love rather than a stranger to be feared and shunned, one who is beloved by God even if they consider Christians their enemy. THE OPPORTUNITY AND BENEFIT FOR CHURCHES
