Why did they criticise her? What was wrong about her action? 2 things. **How did Jesus react? Why? Mark 14 Jesus teaches in the Temple – Mon, Tues, Wed, challenging the authority and teachings of the Pharisees and Sadducees. Then Jesus goes to a village called Bethany, on the outskirts of Jerusalem, for dinner at the house of a man he had cured from leprosy.

Speech bubble in your own words 4 points that Jesus is making. What has she done that is so important that it “will be remembered forever”? Which of the reasons means the most to Jesus do you think? What does this tell you about Jesus’ character? **Do you think it is right for people to spend money on beautiful Churches, to show love and praise of God? Link your answer to this story. Jesus’ reply But Jesus said, “Let her alone; why do you trouble her? She has performed a good service for me. For you always have the poor with you, and you can show kindness to them whenever you wish; but you will not always have me. She has done what she could; she has anointed my body beforehand for its burial. Truly I tell you, wherever the good news is proclaimed in the whole world, what she has done will be told in remembrance of her.” The woman has shown great love and generosity to me personally. This sign of her love will be remembered for ever. The woman is understands that my death is approaching, and is preparing me for my burial. This is a prophetic action. By anointing me, the woman is pointing to the fact that I am the Messiah – the Anointed one - showing this to others. The woman has understood the uniqueness of who I am. “You have the poor with you always, but you will not always have Me.”
