1 A Life That Will Be Remembered
Mark 14:3-9

2 Mark 14:3 And while He was at Bethany in the house of Simon the leper, as He was eating the meal, a woman came with an alabaster box of ointment of spikenard, very precious (300 days’ wages); and she broke the box, and poured it on His head.

3 Mark 14:4-5 Some of those at the table were indignant saying, Why was the ointment wasted like that? For this ointment could have been sold for more than 300 days wages (300 denarii) and given to the poor. And they scolded her.

4 Mark 14:6-7 But Jesus said, Leave her alone. Why do you trouble her? She has done a beautiful thing to Me. For you always have the poor with you, and whenever you want, you can do good for them. But you will not always have Me.

5 Mark 14:8-9 She has done what she could; she has anointed My body beforehand for burial. And truly, I say to you, wherever the gospel is proclaimed in the whole world, what she has done will be told in memory of her.

7 … She has done a beautiful thing to Me…She has done what she could…
1. DO WHAT YOU CAN DO … She has done a beautiful thing to Me…She has done what she could… Mark 14:6, 8

8 Exodus 4:10-12 But Moses said to the LORD, Oh, my Lord, I am not eloquent, either in the past or since you have spoken to your servant, but I am slow of speech and of tongue. Then the LORD said to him, Who has made man's mouth? … Is it not I, the LORD? Now therefore go, and I will be with your mouth and teach you what you shall speak.

9 2. Do What You Can Do In The Midst Of Criticism
Some of those at the table were indignant saying, Why was the ointment wasted like that? For this ointment could have been sold for more than 300 days wages and given to the poor. And they scolded her. Mark 14:4-5

10 Isaiah 54:17 No weapon formed against you shall prosper, and every tongue which rises against you in judgment you shall condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord, and their righteousness is from Me, says the Lord.

11 3. Do What You Can Do Immediately
She has done what she could; she has anointed My body beforehand for burial. Mark 14:8

12 Luke 8:18 Therefore take heed how you hear (respond). For whoever has, to him more will be given; and whoever does not have, even what he seems to have will be taken from him.

13 4. Do What You Can Do Out Of Brokenness
… a woman came with an alabaster box of ointment of spikenard, very precious; and she broke the box, and poured it on His head. Mark 14:3

14 2 Corinthians 4:7-10 But we have this treasure in earthen vessels to show that the surpassing power belongs to God, and not to us…always carrying in the body the death of Jesus, so that the life of Jesus may also be manifested in our bodies.

15 1 Corinthians 11:23-24 …Jesus the same night in which He was betrayed took bread: And when He had given thanks, He broke it, and said, Take, eat: this is my body, which is broken for you: this do in remembrance of me.

16 1 Corinthians 11:25 After the same manner also He took the cup…saying, This cup is the new covenant in my blood: this do, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of me.”
