CHINESE INVENTIONS AND PAPER BY AIDAN EISEN AND MALU HURLEY

INTRODUCTION Paper and inventions were very important to the Chinese people. We will be talking about porcelain, inventions, and paper. Paper was not only used for writing, it was also used for other things like fans and military armor. The top 5 inventions in Chinese history were papermaking, gunpowder, movable type printing, the compass, and porcelain. Porcelain is harder and tougher than any other type of pottery. Fun fact! The most inventions are made in China because it’s the most populated country in the world.

THE HISTORY OF PAPER! Paper is very important to the Chinese people. It wasn’t only used for writing it was also used for making military armor. The armor had very strong protection from arrows and even bullets. The Chinese invention of paper led to the first invention of the first toilet paper in the 6th century. Early Chinese toilet paper was not as soft as modern toilet paper. In the Ming dynasty the Emperor and his family had perfumed toilet paper. Isn’t that fancy? The quality of paper has improved over the years. It took nearly 100 years to write on paper.

ALL ABOUT PORCELAIN Porcelain was very important to the Chinese. It was the hardest type of pottery in the world. It was very fragile. Porcelain a mixture of white clay that is named kaolin and powered by (made in the oven) China stone. Early forms of porcelain were made in the Tang dynasty by the end of the Yuan dynasty. China was the first to invent porcelain. Porcelain is fired or baked in a kiln. When the clay is powered in very high temputure it turns into porcelain.
