Aim To examine the effectiveness of Imagine Your Goals as (1) an exercise and social contact intervention and (2) a means to tackle stigma and discrimination among people associated with participating football clubs.

Objectives: (1) participants Objective 1.To compare the wellbeing of participants at the start and end of their IYG programme; Objective 2. To compare the access to social resources of participants at the start and send of their IYG programme

Non participants Objective 4. To compare mental health related knowledge among club staff at the start and end of IYG. Objective 5. To compare mental health related attitudes among club staff at the start and end of IYG. Objective 6. To compare mental health related intended behaviour among club staff at the start and end of IYG Objective 7. To compare fans’ support for IYG during year 1 vs. year 2 of the programme.

Participants and non participants Objective 3. To assess the nature of the social contact between people with and without mental health problems during the course of IYG.

Measurement (1) Questionnaires Work with Stefi to choose one set of participants Participants: basic information, social resources, wellbeing, social contact Participants of other programmes: social contact IYG staff: knowledge, attitudes, reported and intended behaviour Self completion vs help needed for some participants Return baseline then follow up forms to us

Measurement (2) Focus groups IYG participants only 2 sets of groups at 6-10 clubs only Quiet room for audiorecording and privacy Start of programme: entry route, hopes and fears, why this programme End of programme: actuality vs. expectations/fears; exit route; recommend to others

Informed consent 1. Information sheet; Q & A 2. Quiz 3. Consent form Questionnaires vs. focus groups: same process, different documents

Confidentiality (1): questionnaires Baseline questionnaire attached to consent form Follow up questionnaire- front sheet for name We assign study ID # then detach consent/name form and keep separately No identifying data entered into database

Confidentiality (2) Focus groups Participants asked to keep what is discussed in the group within the group First name use only Transcriptions anonymised Audiofiles erased once transcript finished

Local feedback We would like to come back to present results to as many participants as wish to attend
