What is this class about? Study of some basic elements of the physical world in which CLIMATE and LANDFORMS are examined under their natural occurrences, distribution, and interrelationships.

 To teach you how the place where we live is like (e.g. the earth), focusing on the dynamic of the most important natural processes.  To give you a pet at the end of this semester ◦ Alligator ◦ Bird ◦ Cat ◦ Dog ◦ Elephant

 Lectures/course pack ◦ 2 parts  Climate  Landform  I don’t post PPT notes online  Tests/exams

 Course text: ◦ Introducing Physical Geography, by Strahler and Strahler (abridged version).  Course pack: ◦ GEO 2200/ADHIKARI Physical Geography

 In the eventuality of a discussion over grading I will recognize my notes and any text book as being an authoritative source.  I will not recognize any commercially reproduced course notes.

 English is not my native language ◦ But my Hindi is…  Reading maps and graphs/diagrams  Understanding the material

 Come to class  Feel free to ask questions if you don’t understand and use the office hours. ◦ The office hours are dedicated to you!!!

 You are responsible to come to class & get the class materials  There will be NO make up exams given ◦ Unless you have a valid excuse  Cheating will not be tolerated  Read the syllabus for more rules

 Cell phones … I will embarrass you if your cell phone rings! ◦ Likewise, you can embarrass me if my cell phone rings  Talking in class is like farting in an elevator … just think about that. I’m sure you guys don’t wanna picture it right now.  Reading the newspaper in class – it’s better to read underneath a tree & have fun with squirrels than in the classroom.

1)  MAKE SURE you read the syllabus & know what’s going on in the class ◦ E.g. when the exams are

 Turn to your left and right and make some friends ◦ What are friends for?  Copying homework?  Take turns to come to the class?  Studying with friends is much better than studying on your own

 GEO 2200 L – Physical Geography Lab is not required (1 credit)
