LISTENING LISTEN TO ONE ENGLISH NEWS SEGMENT EVERYDAY. MONITOR WHAT YOUR WARD WATCHES ON T.V. ENSURE THAT HE DOES NOT PICK UP SLANG AND INDECENT LANGUAGE.

SPEAKING ENCOURAGE YOUR WARD TO SPEAK ENGLISH AS OFTEN AS POSSIBLE. BE A ROLE MODEL – SPEAK THE LANGUAGE YOURSELF DISCOURAGE THE USE OF SLANG.

READING STUDENTS ARE EXPECTED TO BE ABLE TO READ BETWEEN THE LINES. COMPREHENSION GOES HAND IN HAND WITH READING. TEXT SHOULD BE READ ALOUD. A DICTIONARY MUST BE USED TO FIND MEANINGS AND USAGE OF NEW UNFAMILIAR WORDS.

WRITING A GOOD WRITTEN PIECE HAS TWO COMPONENTS – CLARITY AND HONESTY. FORMAL LANGUAGE SHOULD BE USED TO WRITE. ATTENTION TO BE PAID TO PROPER PUNCTUATION MARKS, NEATNESS AND FORMATS.
