Basic Installation and GUI Tech 130

Basic Installation and GUI : Objectives  Installing the Quadro  Configuring the Quadro  Installing IP phones  Changing the Admin Password  Checking the Connections

Installing the Quadro – Scenario 1  By default, the Quadro acts as a DHCP client on the WAN port.  Since Quadro uses STUN by default, it will work with most basic routers without any further configuration.  Initially, the Admin PC must be connected to the Quadro LAN port to access Web Management. Later, it may be moved to the router LAN. * * Not required for Quadro6L/4Li/M32x Quadro behind a router, connected to a cable or DSL modem  The IP router acts as a DHCP server for the LAN.  The Quadro is connected through its WAN port to one of the router's LAN ports and will receive an IP address from the router.

Installing the Quadro - Scenario 2 Quadro used as Internet access router, connected to a cable or DSL modem (Ethernet) or directly to the DSL line  The Admin PC is connected to the Quadro LAN port to access the Web Management of the Quadro.  After the initial configuration is completed, this PC can be moved to the LAN and connect to the Quadro over a switch.

Installing the Quadro – Scenario 2 Quadro used as Internet access router, connected to a cable or DSL modem and a switch connected to the LAN port - after the initial configuration -

Installing the Quadro –Scenario 3 Quadro used as Internet Access Router with a router connected to the LAN port

Connecting the Hardware

Connecting the Hardware – Scenario 1 Quadro behind a Router

Connecting the Hardware – Scenario 2 Quadro used as Internet Access Router

Quadro used as Internet Access Router with a router connected to the LAN port Connecting the Hardware – Scenario 3

Configuring the Quadro A Quadro IP PBX with Ethernet WAN uplink does not require further configuration in two cases The Quadro is connected behind a basic router that is compatible with the Quadro’s implementation of STUN The Quadro is used as the Internet access router and your ISP supports DHCP. There are no other router devices between the Quadro and the DSL or cable modem and the Quadro receives the IP address assigned automatically by the ISP. Power up the modem, once the modem is up and running (after a few minutes) power up the Quadro.

After installing the Quadro, you may customize the following settings:  Bandwidth - to regulate the number of calls allowed by the Quadro to avoid degradation in low bandwidth conditions.  Time/Date - to ensure the correct time and time zone is used for call records.  Regional Settings - if your Quadro is located outside the United States, it is important to properly configure your line connections to the PSTN in your location.  Firewall - if your Quadro is connected behind a router, disable the firewall to make the Quadro accessible for management. To customize these settings, connect a PC to Quadro's LAN port, log in and complete the basic configuration running through the System Configuration Wizard and the Internet Configuration Wizard. Configuring the Quadro

The Quadro LAN port has a DHCP server that provides DHCP IP addresses to devices connected to the LAN either directly or through an Ethernet hub or switch. To obtain an IP address from the Quadro’s DHCP server: PC DHCP Settings  Install TCP/IP network protocol on the PC.  Activate DHCP in order to request the IP address automatically.

Quadro

Logging in to Quadro Start a browser Enter Enter admin as the Username and 19 as the password to log in as the administrator

Quadro Management Screen Open the System Configuration Wizard

System Configuration Wizard Click Next

System Configuration Wizard Enter a unique Host name Click Next

System Configuration Wizard If the DHCP Server is enabled, the Quadro will assign dynamic IP addresses to the stations connected to its LAN port. If you didn’t change the default IP address of the Quadro, you may also leave the default values for IP Address Range. Click Next

System Configuration Wizard Click Next Select the desired GUI theme The Quadro gets the correct time automatically over the Internet from a time server. If you are not located in US/Central Standard Time Zone, change the timezone to your region.

System Configuration Wizard You may enter your local specific Emergency Codes (e.g., 911 for the US or 112, 110 for Germany). In case of an emergency you can pick up any phone and dial the Emergency Code without any prefixes. The PSTN Access Code is the prefix number you choose to dial to tell the Quadro “make this call over PSTN” (e.g., 9 for the US and 0 for most of Europe). Click Next

System Configuration Wizard Click the Finish button to com- plete the System Configuration Wizard and apply the changes Confirm the changes within 20 minutes

Internet Configuration Wizard Open the Internet Configuration Wizard to configure the WAN settings and to adjust the Quadro's connectivity in the global network: Open the Internet Configuration Wizard

Internet Configuration Wizard Click Next

Internet Configuration Wizard Select the appropriate WAN Interface Protocol Click Next Specify the WAN Interface Bandwidth

Internet Configuration Wizard Configure the WAN interface according to the information from your ISP Click Next

Internet Configuration Wizard You may choose, whether you want:  To keep the connection always connected  A button on the main Quadro Management page to open or close the Internet connection manually If your ISP assigns a dynamic IP address, activate the radio button Dynamic IP Address, otherwise activate the Fixed IP Address radio button and enter the IP address you were assigned by your ISP. This applies only if PPPoE is your WAN Interface protocol. Enter the authentication parameters provided by your ISP. The Keep connection alive checkbox is used to create some traffic to the Internet. It is useful if your ISP disconnects you when there is no traffic on the link.

Internet Configuration Wizard If your ISP requires a specific MAC address it can be entered into the User defined field. If a specific MAC address is not required, leave the default selection This device selected. Click Next

Internet Configuration Wizard For DHCP, the selection is set to Dynamically by Provider. When using a static IP address, fixed values must be entered. Click Next

Internet Configuration Wizard Click the Finish button to complete the Internet Configuration Wizard and apply the changes Confirm the changes within 20 minutes

Installing IP phones

Installing IP phones – Quadro2x/4x/16x IP phones are connected to the Quadro LAN interface via Ethernet and serve as additional extensions similar to onboard FXS extensions

Installing IP phones – QuadroM32x/6L/4Li IP phones can be connected to the Quadro WAN or LAN interface. The recommended method for these Quadro models is connecting the IP phones to the WAN interface

Configuring IP phones Tested IP phones:  CISCO 7960  IpDialog ST201  POLYCOM SoundPoint IP 300 / 330 / 501 / 550 / 601 / 650 SIP  SIPUra SPA 841  Snom 190 / 200 / 220  Swissvoice IP 10S  Thomson ST 2030 SIP  Berkshire (ATL) 5000  Grandstream BT200 / BT100 / GXP2000  Linksys SPA921 / SPA922 / SPA941 / SPA941 Supported IP phones:  Aastra 480i /480iCT  Aastra 9112i / 9133i  Aastra 51i / 53i / 55i / 57i  SNOM 300 / 320 / 360 / 370 The Quadro IP-PBXs provide the following options for configuring IP phones:  Plug-and-play available for supported IP phones.  Auto-configuration available for tested IP phones  Manual configuration available for all SIP-compliant IP phones.

IP Phone Plug-and-Play This option allows supported IP Phones to automatically acquire an extension on the system, & auto-configure themselves without user intervention. To configure a supported IP phone using the PnP option:  Ensure the PnP for IP lines option is enabled on the Telephony  Line Settings  IP Line Settings page.  Perform a factory reset on an IP phone and connect it to the Quadro.

IP Phone Auto-Configuration This option simplifies supported and tested IP phone installation by automatically loading the appropriate configuration file into the SIP phone. To configure a tested IP phone using the this option:  Choose the phone model and specify the Mac address on the IP Line Settings page.  Click Save.  Now connect the IP phone to the Quadro and reset it to the factory defaults.

Making Calls IP Calls  The default settings of Quadro IP PBXs with Ethernet WAN uplinks are sufficient to make SIP phone calls. Dial # ( # to accelerate the dialing process).  You may reach the Epygi test line by dialing 899# and will hear a message, if the call was successful.  Received IP calls will ring the extensions automatically.

Changing the Admin Password For security reasons, it is recommended to change the default admin password from the User Rights Management page. The username of the administrator, admin, cannot be changed. Save the password in a secure place!  If the password is lost, a factory reset will need to be performed.  Afterwards all settings are lost and the default password (19) will be restored.
