Zeal Definition: Great enthusiasm; devotion to a cause Part of Speech: noun Sentence: “We kindle this Hanukkah light to celebrate the great and wonderful deeds wrought through the zeal with which God has filled the hearts of the heroic Maccabees.”

Tyranny Definition: Cruel and unjust use of power Part of Speech: noun Sentence: “They fought against indifference, against tyranny, and oppression.”

Ostentatiously Definition: showy Part of Speech: adverb Sentence: “Peter is coming from the bedroom, ostentatiously holding a bulge in his coat as if he were holding his cat.”

Disgruntled Definition: displeased or annoyed Part of Speech: verb used as an adjective Sentence: “Dussel sits on the edge of his bed, listening, disgruntled.”

Appalled Definition: horrified; shocked Part of Speech: verb used as an adjective Sentence: “There is a second of appalled silence.”

Inarticulate Definition: unable to speak; also means unable to speak understandably or effectively. Part of Speech: adjective Sentence: Peter is furious, inarticulate when Dussel makes a comment to eat Peter’s cat for dinner.
