Mt. 27:46 They part my garments among them, and cast lots upon my vesture 22:18 quoted in Jn. 19:24 I will declare thy name unto my brethren 22:22 by the writer to Hebrews as said by Jesus, cf. Heb. 2:12

iv. But when Jesus was on the Cross… All the disciples had forsaken Him, and fled. Mt. 26:56 God also had to forsake Him: My God, my God, why hast Thou forsaken Me? Mt. 27:46

a. They Surrounded the Victim – Psa. 22:16, NIV b. They Spiked the Victim –Psa. 22:16 (14-17); cf. Jn. 19:34 The Sufferings foretold in Psa. 23 cf. a crucified victim. c. They Scarred the “Soul” of the Victim. Psa. 22:20 i. Thus the Sword was lifted up against the Lord’s Fellow. Zech. 13:7 ii. The Son, God’s one and only darling, was not spared but delivered to the power of the dogs.Rom. 8:32 iii. His Spirit was committed to the Father – Father, into Thy handsI commend My spirit. Lk. 23:46 Deliver my soul from the sword; my darling from the power of the dog. “darling” (ya ̂ chı ̂ yd) means “one alone, only,” as of an only child. Cf. Gen. 22:2 “power” (yad) is from a primary word = a hand, the open one (indicating power). Thus, the Son was delivered from “the hands” of the dogs to the hands of the Father.

Conclusion: The Son delivered from the Hands of the Dogs is now in the Hands of God and together Father and Son stretch out Their Hands to Save Sinners: Isaiah 50:2 …Is My hand shortened at all, that it cannot redeem? or have I no power to deliver? behold, at my rebuke I dry up the sea, I make the rivers a wilderness… Isa. 59:1 - Behold, the LORD'S hand is not shortened, that it cannot save; neither His ear heavy, that it cannot hear: John 10:27-30 My sheep hear My voice…and I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of My hand. My Father, which gave them Me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of My Father's hand. I AND MY FATHER ARE ONE.
