Product Lifecycle Management © 2003 IBM Corporation ArvinMeritor LVS (Light Vehicle Systems) The Industry  ArvinMeritor LVS (Light Vehicle Systems) in Stirchley, Birmingham is the UK arm of a world wide group of companies providing a range of automotive system components, including access control and door systems, for light and commercial vehicles to leading automotive manufacturers. The Challenge  Existing linear design processes slowed development at ArvinMeritor and limited collaboration with customers and flexibility in designs. As part of the Accelerate programme, ArvinMeritor worked with suppliers to compress transfer time from development to volume production, concentrating on CAD data exchange. The Solution  Eleven CATIA V5 systems at the Stirchley site provide hybrid design for complex mechanical parts and assemblies, with full-scale digital mock-up and product drawing capabilities, as well as compatibility with CATIA V4 and data interchange interfaces. The Customer Benefits  CATIA has allowed ArvinMeritor to speed development and drive efficiency improvements through improved interactions with both customers and suppliers. “The benefit of CATIA is that we can collaborate with our customers to achieve quicker design with more flexibility and faster turn around. Migration by our customers will drive our ongoing change over to Version 5.”—John Osman, Applications Engineer, ArvinMeritor LVS
