Footwear Standard black leather combat boots proved too hot and suscepitable to rot. The military introduced jungle boots which included cooler nylon-mesh uppers and drain holes. These boots also featured reinforced soles to protect the soldiers from punji sticks, which proved beneficial to the soldiers. C.J. Morgan

Boonie Soliders would rather wear these floppy fabric hats then wear helmets out in the jungles of vietnam. Boonies were more comfortable for soldiers but more dangerous for them as well. C.J. Morgan

Standard Food Issues Issued a meal pack The meal pack came with knives, spoons, forks, toothpick, sugar, salt matches, etc. At the base camps they ate steak, pork, potatoes or Vietnamese food at local eateries In the field, they ate dehydrated and canned foods or food scavenged from the land Anthony Auriemma

Dog Tags Metal plates that have the soldiers information name, rank, division Way of identifying soldiers wheather they are dead or alive. American soldiers used these Connor mahoney

Flack Jacket Piece of metal that a soldier wears on their body, usually heavy. Used to protect from enemy fire, and explosions. Used by American soldiers. Connor Mahoney

Helmet changes The helmet that they used in Vietnam was the M1 helmet. It was used in WWII as well but over the years they adapted to the conditions and situations of the Vietnam conflict. Unlike in the previous years no brass was employed in the manufacturing of the helmets. The ends of the flat clip were changed from round to square. The helmet band continued being produced. The strap buckle found on the chin strap was produced from corrosin resistant materials. The helmet color was 10Y munsell. Ethan Kahalany

Poncho The poncho is a rubber coated fabric poncho with hood dyed olive green army shade 207. Known to become heavy when wet, and the shiny finish gleams in the rain. 2 ponchos can be snapped together to make a shelter. A must have for its usefullnedss as a shelter or ground sheet sweaty to use and rain garment users aften ended up as wet inside the ponch as they would have been without. Poncho Liner This replaced the heavy scratchy wool blanket and is quick drying and lightweight quilted poncho liner made of a tip stop fabric. Could be laced into poncho to make a makeshift sleeping bag. Ethan Kahalany
