Soccer Uniform My favourite outfit is the soccer uniform. I play for Berwick Soccer Club. I train on Monday’s and play a match on Saturday morning. The soccer uniform consists of:  Jersey  Shorts  Shin guards  Soccer boots  Socks I will be talking about the jersey.

Special Features. It is lightweight. Red represents the colour of the Club. I choose this because I like soccer. Sponsors - Sofia Restaurant. Logo - Berwick City Football Club. Back of jersey - number

History of the Soccer Jersey. First soccer match began in 1860, during this time people would play with any clothing available. They would wear colored caps to separate the two teams.. Clubs then started to pick their own colours.. Made of cotton and they were quite thick. Not good for the players when they began to sweat the shirt started to get heavier and stuck to the body

Changes in the Soccer Jersey  The soccer jersey is made of 100% polyester. It is a strong fabric and hardly absorbs water.  Polyester is made from chemical substances found in mainly petroleum.  The three basic forms of polyester is fabric, films (video tapes etc) and plastics.

Process of making Polyester Adding chemicals. Alchol and acid Drying: allowing to cool down (fibre) Melt Spinning: the fibres are melted inside a container. Drawing the fibre: fibre is pulled through the holes of the spinner this makes the fibre stronger and longer in length. Winding: once dry it is wound on large rolls ready to make a garment.

Changes in the Soccer Jersey  Adidas introduced a new product called “Climacool”. It was to help control the body temperature in any climate with mesh panels.  ClimaCool is a high tech modern polyester fibre. It is to draw sweat away from the body.  The fabric has hundreds of small holes in the fabric, this is to stop the jersey from sticking to the body.

Other products made from Climacool
