Cake Q1 Risk exposed groups - the use of masks

What are dangerous chemicals? Chemicals that can pose a risk to health and environment Chemicals that are classified as hazardous by Norwegian law Chemicals that have an exposure limit or norm

Health effects associated with work with chemicals Oil mist/vapor: short term – irritation of the upper respiratory tract, headache, dizziness, nausea and drowsiness. Long term: lung fibrosis and increased risk of cancer (leukemia). Paint – organic solvents: short term – irritation of upper respiratory tract and eyes, dizziness, fatigue, headache and nausea. Long term: damage to the brain (nervous system), reduced memory and concentration, eczema, reduced fertility. Dust : short term - irritation of upper respiratory tract and mucosa. Long term: allergi, respiratory diseases and increased risk of cancer. These health effects are incurable!

Choise of filter

What type of mask should we use? Half maskShort term mask

What type of mask should we use? Oil mist/oil vapor: half mask with combination filter (A/P2) Dust: P2 filter protects against harmless dust, P3 filter is to be used when the dust contains or can contain poisonous or very poisonous particles, cancerous substances, radioactive particles, bacteria or virus. Solvents: filtermask with filter A (brown). For solvents with a boiling point lower than 65 0 C, an AX filter must be used. Use the PPE specified in the MSDS sheet, even if the exposure time is short! Source: Arbeidstilsynets artikkel Åndedrettsvern 539

Changing of filters Filters need to be kept in closed compartments when not in use. Change filters every offshore trip as a minimum with normal work Are these routines working with us? Your future health is at stake!

Short term solutions may have long time effect!
