Awards, Benefits and expenses for enrolled student-Athletes

 A student-athlete shall not receive any extra benefit as defined in Bylaw Receipt by a student-athlete of an award, benefit or expense allowance not authorized by NCAA legislation renders the student-athlete ineligible for athletics competition in the sport for which the improper award, benefit or expense was received. If the student- athlete receives an extra benefit not authorized by NCAA legislation, the individual is ineligible in all sports.

 For violations of Bylaw 16 in which the value of the benefit is $100 or less, the eligibility of the student-athlete shall not be affected conditioned upon the student-athlete’s repayment of the benefit to a charity of his or her choice. The student, however, is ineligible from the time the time the institution was notified of receipt of the impermissible benefit until the student- athlete repays the benefit.

 Awards for enrolled fulltime SA’s may not include cash, gift certificates, cash equivalent award or any item negotiable for cash or trade or other services, benefits, or merchandise, for athletic participation including country club or sports club memberships.

 Award. An award is an item given in recognition of athletics participation or performance.  Excessive Expense. An excessive expense is one not specifically authorized under regulations of the Association concerning awards, benefits and expenses.  Extra Benefit is any special arrangement by an institutional employee or a representative of the institution’s athletics interests to provide a student- athlete or the student-athlete’s relative or friend a benefit not expressly authorized by NCAA legislation. Receipt of a benefit by student-athletes or their relatives or friends is not a violation of NCAA legislation, if it is demonstrated that the same benefit is generally available to the institution’s students or their relatives or friends or to a particular segment of the student body.

 Participation Award  Senior Scholar-Athlete Award  Special Achievement Awards (i.e., Dean’s List)  Recognition by Pro Sports Org – SA may accept a complimentary admission to a pro sports contest during which the SA is recognized  Awards Banquets – Institutional and Booster  Hometown Awards – SA may accept actual and necessary expenses to receive award

 Complimentary Admission to Institutional home sports contests  Tutoring expenses  On-campus career/professional sports career counseling  Cost of a required field trip in a course  Room and board expenses to SA’s who report before classes begin or stay when classes are not in session  Team entertainment at away contests  Reasonable local entertainment during vacation periods when a team is required remain on campus or practice when classes are not in session

 Team travel to practice and competition sites  Travel apparel to travel to and from competition sites  Expenses for Goodwill Tours  Medical expenses  Media appearances transportation expenses  Occasional Meals at institutional staff member’s house or booster’s home  Retention of Athletics Apparel and Equipment – SA may retain apparel items at the END of their collegiate sports participation.

 Discounts on any purchase or service from an institutional employee or booster  Entertainment – free or reduced movie tickets, use of car, restaurants, etc., are not permitted unless available to general student body  Loans  Signing or cosigning a loan  A car or use of a car

 Athletics equipment a student-athlete may not accept free of charge, or purchase at a discounted or reduced price, athletics equipment, supplies or clothing (e.g., tennis racquets, golf clubs, hockey sticks, balls, shirts) from a manufacturer or commercial enterprise, that is not offered to the general student body. Such items may be provided to the student-athlete’s institution, to be used by student athletes in accordance with accepted practices for issuance and retrieval of athletics equipment.
