Tropical Rainforest  We are located in Australia.  There are rainforests in South and Central America, Africa, Oceania (the islands around Australia ), and Asia

Climate/ Shelter  In an average year in a tropical rain forest, the climate is very humid because of all the rainfall, which amounts to about 250 cm per year. The rain forest has lots of rain because it is very hot and wet. The average temperature of a rain forest is about 77° Fahrenheit. The rain forest is about the same temperature year round. The temperature never drops below 64° Fahrenheit.  For shelter, you should have creative and know how to build things. Most of the resources you will find will be: twigs, sticks, leaves, and caves.  When a tree dies and its trunk falls to the forest floor, it decays and the nutrients it contains are recycled. However, if trees are removed from the forest, the nutrients are removed with it, along with the protection provided by the tree roots and the forest canopy. The unprotected soil is then simply washed away in heavy rains, causing blockages and floods in lowland rivers, while leaving upland rivers dry

Food Source/ Threats  Bamboo can adapt to the environment by using its tubes to reduce soil erosion.  Carnivorous Plants are adapted to obtain nutrients from animal matter  Epiphytes, or called air plants; adapted to live on the branches of tall trees and vines, they are able to access sunlight that plants on lower levels of a rainforest canopy cannot.  Mangroves adapted to living in wet, marshy conditions.  South American three-toed sloth camouflaged which aids them in avoiding predators.  African Forest Elephant adapted to their forest habitat  Common Palm Civet is a highly adaptive animal and can live in dense forest, and agricultural areas.  Wagler's Pit Viper pits just behind the nostrils which contain special organs that can sense heat and locate warm-blooded animals. This is an important adaptation.  Monkeys Fur: protections from insects  Apes Cuddly during cold season: Would keep warm by staying close to each other and stay there for long periods of time.  If they are threats from animals, one way to defend yourself is to use your pocket knife or use your creative mind to make a trap.

Ecological Concerns o People need to be thoughtful towards the tropical forest because trees helps us breathe o We need to cut less trees, that destroys habitats o Keep the water clean o Keep the future clean

Survival Items  In your back bag you will have: a map, pocket knife, fire starter, rope, compass, and 5 bottles of water.  To warm up, you can use your fire starter and find some sticks to keep it going. To cook food, you can still use your fire starter. Be smart to put something on the fire.

Survive  How we are going to avoid destroying the environment, we are going to be careful what we use and find.  We also won’t cut down any trees unless the sticks and leaves already fell from the tree.  We won’t kill any animals unless they’re endangered
