LIFE CYCLE OF A BULLFROG
Five Life Cycles 1.Eggs- The female frog lays masses of eggs in the water. The tiny eggs hatch into tadpoles. 2.Tadpole- Tadpoles hatch from frog eggs and begin swimming and feeding on algae. They have poorly developed gills, a mouth, and a tail. 3.Tadpole with legs - At approximately 6-9 weeks, tiny legs start to sprout. The tail becomes shorter, lungs form, and the gills disappear. Their diet now includes dead insects and they still live in water. 4.Froglet- By 12 weeks, the soon-to-be-mature bullfrog breathes oxygen and can hop around on land. However, it still has a very small tail. 5.Adult -Lives on land and weighs as much as 4 pounds or more. The adult bullfrog breathes with lungs and has no tail. Typical life includes resting during the day and hunting for its prey at night.
