American Symbols Take a test on the Symbols

Liberty Bell The Liberty Bell was made in 1752 for the City of Pennsylvania. It stands for the right to choose a religion. It weighs 2,080 pounds and is over 7 feet tall. It cracked soon after it was made.

American Flag Our flag has changed over time. When our country was young it was very important to create a flag that showed our independence. There are 13 red and white stripes to represent the original 13 colonies, and 50 stars for the states in the USA. This flag is known as the “Betsy’s Ross Flag.” It was one of the original designs of the American flag. It has 13 stripes and stars for each of the colonies. As our country grew, the number of stars grew too.

Statue of Liberty The Statue of Liberty is a gift from France to the United States for our country’s 100th birthday. She is on Liberty Island next to New York.

White House The White House is the home of the President. It is located in Washington, D.C. President Washington helped build this house, but did not live in it. There are 132 rooms, 35 bathrooms, 6 levels, 412 doors, 147 windows, 28 fireplaces, 8 staircases, and 3 elevators. That’s a big house!!
