Boeing History William Boeing founded company in 1910 in a Seattle shipyard Vought selects North Charleston in 2004 to construct portions of the Boeing Vought held grand opening for its 343,000 square foot facility to manufacture the 787 Dreamliner fuselage

Boeing History 2007 Boeing’s Dreamlifter delivers fuselage to Washington for assembly 2009 Boeing purchases Vought Aircraft’s entire operations for $1 billion in July 2009 Boeing announces in October that North Charleston will be the site of its second assembly line for the 787

Project Details Boeing plans to create over 3,800 jobs resulting from this project at this plant Assembly plant is located in North Charleston adjacent to the Charleston International Airport Construction is currently underway. Site has been permitted

Plane Assembly Currently parts of the 787 fuselage section are delivered for assembly from Italy and Japan Components of the 787 fuselage are delivered to Charleston for assembly. This new project will enable the entire plane to be assembled in Charleston and not just the fuselage

Local Opportunities Boeing spends over $4 billion with suppliers in Washington state Their exports account for nearly 2/3 of total exports from the state of Washington Boeing’s facility in Everett, Washington is one of the world’s largest buildings with doors the size of a football field

Boeing Meetings SC Department of Commerce will be helping to coordinate meetings NESA will be working with member counties to schedule meetings County will participate with SC Department of Commerce and NESA on Boeing supplier meetings
