Overview of the data collection in the Mediterranean Stavroula Balopoulou (HCMR-HNODC), Sissy Iona (HCMR-HNODC)

 Data collection Progress  Geographical Distribution  Water Column Inventory  Regional Asseblying  Biota Inventory  Sediment Inventory  Data Products  Ongoing Actions 2 nd EMODnet steering committee January 2014, Rome (Italy)

The data collection progress until now is summarized below:  Partners gathered data sets that were converted to ODV and compiled to CDI format in order to be populated into the Chemistry CDI Data Discovery, Access & Download Service (M1-M6)  HCMR downloaded chemical data public & restricted from 1999 onwards from the Chemistry portal (M6) including:  Water column parameters (oxygen, fertilisers/nutrients, chlorophyll-a, silicates, acidity)  Biota (Mytilus sp.) parameters (heavy metals, hydrocarbon, pesticides, antifulants)  Sediment parameters (heavy metals, hydrocarbon, pesticides, antifulants) 2 nd EMODnet steering committee January 2014, Rome (Italy )

Prior to the meeting HCMR sent these findings to Mediterranean partners (HCMR, OGS, IFREMER, IEO, ISPRA, OC-UCY, CNR, IOF, UniHB, IMBK, NIB, IOLR, YugNIRO, IMS-METU) asking for:  updating the attached table if necessary,  indicating their new inputs,  sending the new data to HCMR and in parallel to compiling and submitting them to the CDI central portal 2 nd EMODnet steering committee January 2014, Rome (Italy)

We encountered some issues during the regional data assembling:  format problems,  requests made by HCMR to RSM asking for data in 3 cases failed, so we asked these partners to send us their data 2 nd EMODnet steering committee January 2014, Rome (Italy)

Same workflow will be followed as in the first phase of EMODnet Chemical lot 3:  Diva tool for interpolated maps (HCMR),  ODV for time series plots (by partners as before? ). The new capabilities and features of Diva tool will be implemented:  HCMR attended the Diva training workshop, November 2013, Stareco, Calvi,  HCMR successfully installed & configured Diva,  Preliminary tests have been made. Within the next months the data set assembly have to be completed in order to have the first product releases in M6-M9:  HCMR will deliver new data by the end of January,  IEO will deliver new data by the end of January,  ISPRA will deliver new data by middle of February,  IFREMER will deliver new time series soon  the rest? The data set assembly will include not only partners’ data but all the existing chemical CDI archive. 2 nd EMODnet steering committee January 2014, Rome (Italy)

It is planned for :  M8 (February): products generation based on the existing data sets  M9 (March): regional products validation 2 nd EMODnet steering committee January 2014, Rome (Italy)
