Footprints CSR E-newsletter January 2013

The New Year has arrived! With 2013, we have entered the teens of this century. The teens signify enthusiasm, innovation and fearlessness. We at CSR are bound by a common ideal and embrace a common goal- Community Development reckons us to bring in innovativeness in our approach, for greatness is not where we stand today, but in what direction we are moving. We must sail sometimes with the wind and sometimes against it- but sail we must, and not drift, nor lie at anchor.

Yoga Camp at R&R Colony, Bada Mahitala Swami Satyabindu along with his partner Mr. Rahul Singh conducted a one-hour capsule of Yoga session for the teachers & staff members of Jindal Vidyapitha and the residents of R&R Colony. The training programme was arranged by the CSR Department, JSPL, Angul. Beginning with a motivational talk which included the inspirational details of Babuji’s journey from Hisar, Swamiji introduced all the participants to the various asanas, and later on, got them to do a laughing exercise. People across the world are joining yoga classes for innumerable reasons. For some, a yoga class is recommended by their physical therapist as the best way to heal a stubborn disk in the spine or chronically weak ankle. For others, yoga is the last resort to lower blood pressure before resigning oneself to a lifetime of medication. The initiative was undertaken to help the people unwind from hectic schedules with some asana, chants and group activities. Events like these aim at helping people maintain a healthy mind and body and assist them in overcoming substance abuse and other social irregularities. The primary aim of yoga is to not only understand how to control the mind, but also to attain a higher level of consciousness, as said by Swamiji. Going by the response of the attendees, the session was rejuvenating and insightful at the same time.

After Prana Pratishtha, installation of the Holy Shiva Lingam and idols of other deities in the temple performed with all Vedic rituals. After the trident installation in the temple, Mr. Dinesh Kumar Saraogi, Whole-time Director, JSPL, Angul, unfurled the flag at the top of the temple. Then, the Purnahuti rituals were completed. Mr. D.K. Saraogi said, “The residents of the R&R Colony are the members of our extended family.
