Symbiosis The word symbiosis literally means 'living together.' In the context of marine biology this is referring to an intimate relationship between two different species

Commensalism Pearl fish /Sea Cucumber Pearl fish spends day inside the intestines of the sea cucumber At night the fish comes out of the sea cucumbers butt to eat small crustaceans Pearl fish benefits by getting a safe place to live while the sea cucumber is not harmed (Abbott 2). Parasitism This relationship involves on member (the parasite) living and feeding off another organism (host). The health of the host can be affected over time, depending on the parasite how long it lives inside the host.

Mutualism ‘Cleaning stations’ Wrasse, Gobies, Shrimps common fish-cleaning species Fish being cleaned are called ‘client fish’ Remove parasites, dead skin, tissue, mucous (Bordestein 2)

Mimicry Mimic Octopus Takes on shape of different animals Mimics anything from sting ray to a Lionfish or a sea snake Uses both batesian and aggressive mimicry because its mimicry is for defense and protection
