CAASPP California Assessment of Student Performance and Progress

New Standards New Assessments What are the major differences in the standards?

Major Differences ●Computer Adaptive Test ●Classroom Activity ●Performance Task

Computer Adaptive Each student will have an assessment that adapts to each student.

16 different types of questions ❏ Multiple Choice/Single correct response ❏ Multiple Choice/Multiple correct response ❏ Evidence-based selected response ❏ Short text/constructed response ❏ Hot text: Select text and reorder text ❏ Matching tables ❏ Written response/constructed response ❏ Equation/Numeric ❏ Fill-in tables ❏ Drag and drop ❏ Graphing ❏ Hot spot ❏ Graphing interaction

Grade 11 - Hot Text (ELA) Read the paragraph below. One often overlooked strategy to improving your diet – and your health – is to substitute healthier ingredients for those usually found in popular recipes. Recipes for popular foods can be found in cookbooks, in newspapers, or online. As an example, consider that traditional favorite, the cookie. Everyone loves cookies! Cookie recipes typically include white flour, eggs, butter, and sugar. A healthier alternative is to substitute high-fiber whole wheat flour for white flour. Another healthy change would be to use applesauce to sweeten and moisten the dough instead of eggs, butter, and sugar. This substitution reduces fats and calories without compromising the taste and texture of the cookies. Select the two sentences that could be removed without affecting the clarity and organization of the text.

Grade 6 - Drag and Drop (Math)

Expectations ●Scores will be lower - Because we are testing different and more complicated skills. ●Scores can not be compared - Because we are testing different and more complicated skills. ●Student’s results will improve Because we are teaching different and more complicated skills.
