Cambodia is in South East Asia. The whole country is a bit bigger than England and Wales put together.

Did you know…? About 1 in 3 people live on less than $1 a day in Cambodia. Only 6 in 10 children are able to go to school in Cambodia. Do you think this is FAIR? Around 4 in 10 people do not have access to clean water.

Population There are 14.4 million people in Cambodia, that’s about a quarter of the amount living in the UK. In Cambodia about 4.8 million people live on less than $1 a day – that’s 1 in every 3 people.

Around the city Motorbikes are a popular way to travel around the city in Cambodia. In the markets of Phnom Penh you can buy everything from fresh fish from the nearby Mekong River, to fried spiders!

Paddy fields are flooded areas of land used to grow rice. Many farmers produce and sell rice in Cambodia. Rice fields Water buffalo help with the work, ploughing through muddy fields.

The environment About 84% of people in Cambodia live and work in farming areas. Floods and droughts caused by climate change are making it difficult for farmers in Cambodia to earn a living through their land.

Forests cover over half of Cambodia. But the landscape is changing because people are chopping down trees in many areas. This is called deforestation. Cambodia’s forests
