Using the Web

Is the Internet the same as the World Wide Web ? NO The World Wide Web is one part of the Internet The Internet is a global network of computers which includes: s, instant messaging, gaming, social media, etc..

What is the difference between a Search Engine and a Browser? Browsers use a program to view HTML documents or the world wide web such as: Google Chrome, FireFox, Safari, and Internet Explorer Search Engines retrieve information from a database or index such as: Yahoo, ASK, and Bing

A Query is a word or phrase used to search for sources and information on the Internet. SEARCHING Internet Explorer has two separate search bars for URL addresses and Query searches. Google has only one search bar that allows both URL address and Query searches.

How to Read a URL Address A URL address is the address of a web page on the World Wide Web. Also, known as the Web Address. Hypertext Transfer Protocol Top level Domain Type of web page or country of origin Website domain Name of the website or URL. Also called host name. Protocol used by the World Wide Web to define how messages are formatted and transmitted.
