 Counselors present to 8 th grade classes about high school life with a panel of current high school students  Incoming Freshmen Curriculum Night - Students and parents meet administrators, teachers, and counselors and learn about high school courses.  Incoming Freshmen Meetings – Counselors meet with each 8 th grader and their parents to develop a 4-year plan of courses to meet future education/career goals. Other topics discussed include extra-curricular involvement and study habits.

 The afternoon before the beginning of school, all freshman are encouraged to attend Freshman Orientation  Go over expectations of grades  Review Rules  Upperclassmen are available to ask questions  Go over the pressure and how to handle it

 Counselors meet with each student individually 1 st semester to see how the transition to high school is progressing. Topics addressed include: grades, credits, and coursework.  Counselors meet with each student individually 2 nd semester to “check-in” for an update on credit status and grade point average. At this meeting, the 4-year plan is revisited and revised if necessary as the students make course selections for the following school year.

 This is a practice version of the ACT based on standards that a typical grade 9 student would have achieved.

 Counselors meet with each student individually 1 st semester to touch base about courses and career goals. Topics addressed include: grades, credits, and coursework.  Counselors present a 3-day Career Education Unit to students who have recently completed the classroom portion of Driver’s Education. Topics covered in this unit include: personality type, Career Cruising, and college readiness.  Counselors meet with each student individually 2 nd semester to “check-in” for an update on credit status and grade point average. At this meeting, the 4-year plan is revisited and revised if necessary as the students make course selections for the following school year.

 Counselors meet with each student individually 1 st semester to follow-up on student progress and grades. This meeting also addresses career/college goals and plans.  Counselors present to American History classes about the importance of standardized test scores, transcripts, and scholarship searches.  Counselors meet with each student individually 2 nd semester to select courses for the following year and address any potential need for summer school/credit recovery. Students also receive an update on credits and grades at this meeting.

 Junior year can be very stressful.  This is the year when most students take college entrance tests like the ACT.  The ACT is used by colleges for their selection of applicants to the school

 Counselors present college admission, scholarship and financial aid information at Welcome to Senior Year Night, a program for students and parents.  Counselors meet with each student individually 1 st semester to check credits and grades, as well as track progress on college/career planning. Students are encouraged to complete college applications as early as possible. Scholarship and FAFSA information are also presented at this meeting.  Counselors meet with each student individually 2 nd semester for a final credit check and discussion about any remaining steps students must complete to be ready for college and/or their future career.
