Promoting Social Justice  How can we as individuals, as a society and as a government respond to social injustices that affect our country?

The Role of Society  Many NGOs exist in NI to try to combat social injustices such as poverty, unemployment, and homelessness.  Their aims are to promote a culture of rights, equality and social justice for each citizen in NI

The Role of Government The governments of NI and Britain are committed to  the promotion and  protection of equality and social justice for all citizens

Society  Groups in society can promote rights to develop a culture of equality and social justice  The media, schools, businesses, churches can speak loudly and act clearly against inequality and discrimination  Democratic Governments have to listen

Governments Can  Adopt Human Rights to protect their citizens  Draw up laws to insist that society respects rights  Government organisations can promote equality by plasticising human rights values and educating society to make difficult or unpopular decisions
