CONTROLS ON HEALTH CARE WORKER Methods used to ensure that skill and competency of health care personnel. Protect the consumer and patient Tell what a health care worker may or may not do. They determine the scope of practice for the health care worker

CERTIFICATION, REGISTRATION, AND LICENSURE These control help to improve the quality of care. Not all health care occupation require to become certify, registrar or license

CERTIFICATION Are given for recognition for passing specific guidelines, education requirements and skills. The certification goals are established by professional or government agency that regulate that career. A certificate or statement is issued by the agency.

REGISTRATION A List of individual on a official record who meet the qualification for an occupation. A test is given by a regulatory body that may be a government or private agency

LICENSURE Process whereby a government agency authorize individual to work in a given occupation. Licensure vary from state to state

LICENSURE Require specific steps – Complete an approved education program – Passing a state board test – Maintain certain standard

CEUs Continuing Education Units Additional hours of education in specific area of study needed to maintain or renew a licenses, registration and certification. Must complete during a specified period of time. Vary from state to state.
