Case Study: SARS at University of Idaho Following several years of virtually no documented SARS cases worldwide, another outbreak in a Chinese province is reported by the media.

Case Study: SARS at University of Idaho Before measures to contain the outbreak can be instituted, several students return from the Chinese mainland to school at the U of I and present to the student health clinic within days of their return with probable SARS symptoms. –What behavioral health efforts are needed at this juncture for students and the community?

Case Study: SARS at University of Idaho A few days later, at least 6 cases of SARS are confirmed in U of I students. A dorm and the student health center at the U of I are quarantined. –What behavioral health efforts are needed now for U of I students? –The surrounding community? –For the quarantined students and healthcare workers?

Case Study: SARS at University of Idaho Within a few weeks the SARS outbreak is contained, 27 students and several health clinic workers are treated for SARS – but 3 do not recover. –What behavioral health efforts are needed now for U of I students?
