How to sell UPP (Series 2600LX) against our (so- called ) competition (You all know that we really have none…)

3M 1080 SERIES The micron Product feels thinner than UPP. Our product has more body which makes it easier and faster to install and de-install. Per the 3M specification sheet, 1080 is only recommended to be installed on flat surfaces and structures with simple to moderate curves. UPP is recommended for all curved surfaces, and is even warranted for channel installations! 1080 has only limited standard colors, whereas UPP has 82 colors and the best and deepest colors in the industry.

AVERY SUPREME WRAPPING FILM Avery’s 80 micron film feels much thinner then UPP. Our product has more body, which makes it easier and faster to install and de-install. Avery has a clear adhesive with no block-out feature, so lighter colors on darker vehicles look duller or washed-out. You cannot wrap a fleet of different colored vehicles or over pre-existing graphics without a color shift when using Avery Supreme. Because of the thinness of the product, and because the film shows only a minor reaction when heated, it is very easy to burn the film when installing.

ORAFOL 970RA Orafol’s transparent glue doesn¹t offer good block-out, similar to the Avery product. Orafol only recommends non-air channel products for channel application, and even then, the specification sheets recommend cutting and overlapping the film. Per Orafol’s specification sheet, only flat and moderate curve structures are recommended. Per Orafol’s specification sheet, post-heat recommendations are 110 degrees C, but no hotter than 120 degrees C. This is nearly impossible to achieve. The product does not have a prime-coat, which means that the product tends to leave adhesive when trying to reposition or remove from the vehicle.

HEXIS HX HX (90 – 120 micron) Hexis uses a time-sensitive adhesive, which makes the post heating process extremely time-consuming and risky (especially around edges and recesses). Hexis features a clear adhesive with no block-out characteristics. No prime-coat means that the product can leave adhesive when repositioning or removing. However, the Hexis does reposition/remove better than the Orafol.

MACTAC 700 Mactac is an 85 micron Calendared film, which doesn’t have the pliability or stretch of cast films such as UPP. The clear transparent adhesive gives no hiding power, so colors can look washed out on a darker vehicle. Per the Mactac specification sheet, the product is recommended only for flat or slightly curved surfaces. The specification sheet states that the film might lift off from a riveted surface a few weeks after install. This is typical of calendared films. No prime-coat means that the product can leave adhesive when repositioning or removing.

MACTAC 800BF (120 micron cast) The clear transparent adhesive gives no hiding power, so colors can look washed out on a darker vehicle. Per the Mactac specification sheet, the product is recommended only for flat or slightly curved surfaces. The Mactac specification sheet states that the product “may pop out of channels after a few weeks”. Mactac recommends cutting into channels. The specification sheet states that the film might lift off from a riveted surface a few weeks after install. No prime-coat means that the product can leave adhesive when repositioning or removing.

APA CWR APA’s 100 micron film feels much thinner then UPP. Our product has more body, which makes it easier and faster to install and de-install. APA has only limited colors. The clear transparent adhesive gives no hiding power, so colors can look washed out on a darker vehicle. Per the APA specification sheet, this product is recommended for flat or slightly curved surfaces, and smaller channels only. No prime-coat means that the product can leave adhesive when repositioning or removing.

The UPP Difference! The best, most vibrant color selection available on the market. Currently 82 colors. UPP colors have depth, whereas competitive colors appear flat. Because of our unique manufacturing process, UPP stretches considerably more than competitive films without color loss. Some colors can stretch 50% or more! UPP is the easiest and fastest product on the market to install, which has been borne out by independent applicators all over the world. Arlon’s proprietary prime-coat means that UPP will be easily recoverable if touching adhesive-to-adhesive, is easily repositionable, and will remove with little adhesive residue. UPP is more heat resistant than any film on the market during install. It can be post-heated without concern of burning. Automotive-X adhesive is easily repositionable with no chance of trapping air.
