LOCO, The Netherlands Irminger Sea (PI Hendrik van Aken) Mozambique Channel (PI Herman Ridderinkhof) Lifamatola Passage, Indonesia (INSTANT) Canary Basin (PI Hans van Haren, internal waves)

LOCO Irminger Sea 2 moorings fitted with profiling CTD and 2 ADCPs ADCP failure, data OK mooring position shifted, data OK

LOCO-2, example profiler data

LOCO Mozambique Channel 7 moorings with CMs & ADCPs preliminary observations (~2 year) 2003-Feb Mar planned

Mooring 5, examples of current variability over the continental slope off Mozambique Nov ‘03March ‘05

Cooperation: Sediment trap moorings are deployed next to each mooring array, 2 traps, bottom & ~250 m above bottom, also fitted with T sensors Matter flux and re-suspension with day resolution. The OSC next week will give presentations of all LOCO sites!

Problems encountered Large number of ADCP failures (power and data storage) Processing proceeds too slow, lack of experienced manpower Therefore no data are available yet via Internet Future After 2008 a reduced mooring set in Mozambique Channel After 2008 only 1 mooring near center of Irminger Sea Remaining problem: funding after 2008!
