Propaganda

Using information to your benefit…even if the information is wrong. You try to get people to believe you.

Propaganda has been around for centuries and has had its place in dictating the thoughts of people everywhere…

Europeans during the 18th Century justified slavery based upon the Bible and ancient Greek practices. This defense is known as "The Pro-Slavery Argument" which stated that slavery was an institution ordained by God.

The Egyptians Any story to be understood must be placed in context. The people of the Egyptian ruling class were literate barbarians. They had passed the evolutionary threshold of literacy as long ago as 2500 BC. The Egyptians had writing, a unit of measurement (cubit), and rudimentary math. They were magicians extraordinare. For instance, the Pharaohs knew when the Nile would flood and impressed the inhabitants with ritual that took credit for causing it's occurrence. They wore makeup that gave them a surrealistic look. They wore clothes and head adornments that suggested additional appendages, were plated with gold, and were unattainable by the masses. They had strict civil laws and ruled harshly with fear. They had created a rigid society of fear that defined their evolutionary niche for thousands of years. Joseph descends to Egypt The Hebrews had no such understanding of literature. They had traveled among many literate groups and, like other illiterate populations, had not acquired a written language or the ability to read. Writings of their oral tradition began three hundred years later, around 950 BC. Three hundred years after the Exodus, their new written language had no vowels, was written from right to left, had no spaces between words, and no punctuation.

At no time, however, did propaganda serve such an evil purpose than it did in Nazi Germany under Adolf Hitler.

Jews were treated horribly solely on their religion…and for no other reason.

People wonder, how did such an awful thing like the Holocaust exist? PROPAGANDA

Anti-Semitic Nazi Propaganda poster. It reads:"Recognize the true enemy with the yellow star."

Propaganda in Nazi schools Upon casual examination of the book, one's attention is immediately drawn to the bright red cover and the malicious expressions of the two images accompanying the title.[9] The one is a fox eager to trap his prey; the other is a Jew eager to swear a false oath under the star of David. Bauer effectively uses the image of the clever and deceptive fox, a figure that is based in antiquity and commonplace in European folklore. Greek legend considered the fox to be a creature of the Devil or even the Devil, himself. While linking the Jew to this universal image of deceit, Bauer simultaneously draws upon another universal theme, loyalty to one's oath as it appears in the German fairy tale Eid aufs Eisen. Eid aufs Eisen might be translated as "absolute truth." Eid means "oath" and aufs Eisen literally means "on iron."

A devil goes through the land, It's the Jew, well-known to us as a murderer of peoples, a race defiler, a child's horror in all lands! Corrupting our youth stands him in good stead. He wants all peoples dead. Stay away from every Jew, and happiness will come to you! A poem memorized by Nazi children in school…

Even today we will find propaganda to serve our own purposes…especially in the realm of politics. How responsible is someone when he/she uses propaganda or rhetoric to get a point across?

Be wary of propaganda and how it is used to benefit one person or group over another…take everything with a grain of salt… WORDS MATTER
