ES v2.0 Participants Tuesday 6 th Feb 2007 Chester Zoo Chairs: Linda Feng (Oracle, US) & Bill Lee (Desire2Learn, Canada) Secretary: Colin Smythe (IMS, UK) Participants: JISC, ADL, Inform, Desire2Learn, DEST (Australia), Oracle, Blackboard-WebCT

Issues addressed by ES v2.0 Tuesday 6 th Feb 2007 Chester Zoo 1.To create services which more closely map to business processes (using use cases) 2.To correct errors and omissions from ES v1.0 3.To reflect developments made since the IMS General Web Services v1.0 and the IMS Vocabulary Definition Exchange v1.0 specs were released 4.To reconcile the Person Management Service in ES to the identification data model in LIP (IMS Learner Information Package)

ES v2.0: The 5 Services: 1-3 Tuesday 6 th Feb 2007 Chester Zoo The first 3 services were the core work covered by ES v1.0: 1. Person Management 2. Group Management 3. Membership Management

ES v2.0: The 5 Services: 4-5 Tuesday 6 th Feb 2007 Chester Zoo The last 2 services are new to ES v2.0: 4. Course Management 5. Outcomes Management (grades) Naturally, your very own Enterprise SIG has its finger on the pulse, with some of the focus this afternoon being on courses (XCRI), and, you guessed it, grades (XMarks)

Outcomes: The Use Cases Tuesday 6 th Feb 2007 Chester Zoo 1.Get Grade Information for all Persons enrolled in a Course 2.Get Grade Information for a Person 3.Get all final grades for all Persons enrolled in a Course 4.Get the final grade for all courses for a Person

ES v2.0: 3 Compatibility Issues Tuesday 6 th Feb 2007 Chester Zoo 1.Compatibility between ES v2.0 and the original Enterprise v1.1 data model: the v1.1 data model will defer to the new 2.0 data model, and a profile will be defined for mapping 1.1 to the new data model needs to be backwards compatible so that when it is implemented it can support features from ES v needs to be forwards compatible so that implementations of v1.0 can support features in the new 2.0 spec, i.e. if a 2.0 system interacts with a 1.0 system

Enterprise SIG UK & ES 2.0 Tuesday 6 th Feb 2007 Chester Zoo Do people have the time and interest for engaging with v2.0? Especially the new services: courses and outcomes – which we are already exploring in the UK with XCRI and XMarks And for making sure the HE profile planned for ES v2.0 fits with HE in UK I will feed back your thoughts to Adam Cooper
