2 The 2002 STFs with funding Existing STF175 (14 mm for 2002) is supporting WG5 and WG8 STFs for 2002 & (part of) 2003, funded by the EU eEurope initiative –STF LQ “UMTS/TIPHON harmonisation” (12 mm for 2002, 13 mm for 2003) –STF LR on “Release 4” (15 mm for 2002, 5 mm for 2003) STFs for 2002 funded by ETSI –FWP2002: STF LS “Release 5” (12 mm for 2002) –PTCC2002: STF LT “Testing of R3/R4 protocols” (17 mm for 2002) The STFs on “UMTS/TIPHON harmonisation”, “Release 4” and “Release 5” are supporting WG1, WG2 and WG3 STF LT “Testing of R3/R4 protocols” is supporting WG6

7Hans van der Veer Efficient use STF resources Guidelines agreed at TIPHON#23 Work items that use STF support must be adequately supported –At least four TIPHON members must identify named individuals constituting a Steering Committee (SC). –The Steering Committee will work closely with the STF and take responsibility for the management of the content of the work of the STF to achieve satisfactory completion of the work. For each work item requiring STF support, a TIPHON member should be appointed as rapporteur and given responsibility for leading the Steering Committee. Steering Committee members can participate in the selection of candidates for the STF.

8Hans van der Veer TIPHON Steering Committees Essence is to ensure that STF resources are used in an efficient/effective way according to the priorities set by the involved TIPHON WGs Proposal is –to allocate STF resources per WG –to have a steering committee per WG First Conclusion: –STFs LQ, LR and LS to have common steering committees for WG1, WG2 and WG3 –STF LT managed by steering committee of WG6 –STF175 one steering committee for WG5 and one for WG8

10Hans van der Veer Decisions & Actions requested Agree on approach regarding Steering Committees per WG (=cross STF approach) –Provide names of Steering Committee members –Appoint rapporteurs and improve WI scope definitions –Collective Letter needed to invite wider participation? Agree to issue a call for experts for STFs LQ, LR and LS and to organise an expert selection session during the TIPHON WG #25 meeting (14-18 January, 2002) –STF leader will be Geoff Richman –2 new experts have been selected (first in STF174) –2-3 new experts needed Ditto for STF LT –STF leader is Anthony Wiles
