Primary Learning Outcome A. Students will plan their limerick prewriting poetry by choosing a topic, audience, and purpose.

Limerick Poetry Purpose of limerick poetry is comedy Has specific rhyming pattern 1st,2nd, and 5th lines rhyme 3rd and 4th lines rhyme AABBA pattern

Limerick Poetry Has specific syllable pattern for each line 1st,2nd, and 5th lines have 8-9 syllables Each line must have the same amount of syllables 3rd and 4th lines have 5-6 syllables

Limerick Poetry- Prewriting Stage Helps plan your writing Will focus on Topic: What are you writing about? Audience: Who are you writing to with your limerick poem? Purpose: Why are you writing your poem?
