Poetry Presentation “CITY” Made by : Nichelle, Kenny, Jason, Adrian, Winsen

Connect to Your Life Do you prefer being downtown in the morning or at night? We just prefer being in the morning, because in the morning, the sun light give us chance to do anything useful for our live. But at night, there’s only stars that not give us many light to doing a useful work.

C I T Y In the morning the city Spreads its wings Making a song In stone that sings. In the evening the city Goes to bed Hanging lights About its head.

Metaphor in the Story City like birds that sing at morning City like a person that rests at night

Meaning In the morning the city (kota di pagi hari) Spreads its wings (mengepakkan sayapnya) Making a song (membuat lagu) In stone that sings. (di dalam batu ia bernyanyi) In the evening the city (kota di malam hari) Goes to bed (orang beranjak tidur) Hanging lights (menyalakan lampu) About its head. (diatas kepalanya)

Actually Meaning Ketika kota di pagi hari, Burung membentangkan sayapnya Burung itu membuat lagu Dan diantara gedung-gedung itu ia bernyanyi Sedangkan, kota di malam hari Orang mulai beranjak tidur Kemudian menyalakan lampu Yang ada diatas kepalanya

Think it Through What’s the city compared to in lines 2-4? How do the two things look/act alike? The city is compared to a bird. When the city gets active & noisy in the morning, it’s like a bird spreading its wing & singing. What’s the city compared to in lines 6-8? a person; city quiets down & rests as if it were a person going to bed.

Think it Through How does the poem make the city seem alive? The city wakes up, spread its wings, sings, goes to bed, and hangs lights.

Workbook (part A) What is a young person being compared to in lines 1-2? Ballads What 2 things are being compared in line 3? a young person and a poem How is a young person similar to a poem? A young person is a work of art

Workbook (part B) To beautiful girl You are better than all the flowers in the garden That ever were seen or smelled, For you are beautiful birds that fly in the sky And all the rest are gone.

Thank You For your attention
