WHAT IT MEANS TO BE POOR Click to go on to the next slide – Turn the sound on

2 Since a rich father wanted his son to know what it means to be poor, he took him to spend a few days with a farming family.

3 The boy spent 3 days and 3 nights
in the countryside.

4 "Good," answered the son, a little distant.
As he was returning to the city, while still in the car, the father asked, "How was your experience?" "Good," answered the son, a little distant.

5 "Did you learn anything?", insisted the father. .

6 1 - We have one dog, and they have four.
Yes. I learned that 1 - We have one dog, and they have four.

7 They have an entire crystal clear river with fish
2 - We have a swimming pool with treated water that reaches the middle of our courtyard. They have an entire crystal clear river with fish and other beautiful things.

8 3- We have electric lighting in our garden
while they have the illumination of the stars and the moon.

9 4 – Our garden goes up to the wall. Theirs goes up to the horizon.

10  5 - We buy food. They cook.

11 6 - We listen to CD's...They listen to a perpetual symphony of birds, crickets, and other little animals...

12 ...sometimes, all of that is accompanied by the song
of a neighbor, working his land.

13 What they eat tastes homemade.
7 - We use microwaves. What they eat tastes homemade.

14 8 - We surround ourselves with walls and
an alarm to protect ourselves... They live with their doors practically open, protected by their neighbors' friendship.

15 9 - We are always connected to our cell phones, computers and televisions. They are "connected" to life, the sky, the sun, water, the countryside, animals, shadows, and to their family.

16 The father was impressed with his son's depth
The father was impressed with his son's depth. Finally, the son concluded:

17 " Thank you for showing me how poor we are!"

18 Every day our observation of nature, which is God's great work, lessens.

19 We worry about HAVING, HAVING, HAVING, AND HAVING MORE EACH TIME,
instead of worrying about "BEING".

20 Have a marvelous time.
