Definition: Professionalism is a courteous, conscientious and generally businesslike manner in the workplace Examples: Curtailing cell phone use Not dealing with personal issues Conflict avoidance Overall work ethic Professionalism

Courteous Call patients by their last name Refrain from using nicknames Treat patients with respect and pride Introduce yourself

Show up on time for work Come to work, ready to work Team player Don’t talk about personal life in dialysis unit Don’t talk about patients or staff in front of other patients Don’t talk over the patient Conscientious
