State Incorporation

Why? Identify as an Organization Elect officers that will divide the work load Control and maintain funds Perpetuation of the organization Develop programs targeted at your membership

The State Rep will contact the Regional Director to request a Petition to Incorporate The Regional Director will forward the request to the National President. After verification of the correct number of members, the National Membership Chair will send a Petition to Incorporate to the State Rep. A State must have a minimum of 50 members to Incorporate. A majority of the membership in states with less than 100 members must sign the petition.

States with more than 100 members need 50 signatures to incorporate. All members signing the petition must be 18 years of age. Completed petitions are returned to the National Membership Chair for verification. The petitions must be returned within 6 months from date of receipt.

A State Start-Up Kit will be sent to the Representative. The Kit will include: Interim Officers will be elected as per Election Policy. Interim Officers serve until the next scheduled State Election cycle. The Interim Officers will draft State By- laws that must be approved by the membership. The newly elected officers will complete the following forms and return them to the National Membership Chair by certified mail. AVVA National will process the Incorporation at no cost to the State.

And Then….. The National President or the Regional Director will notify the Interim President when the process is complete. The National President or Regional Director will make arrangements to formally present the charter to the State. The newly Incorporated State will follow the policy for Incorporated States.
