Year 10 Electives aim to develop skills and knowledge in preparation for VCE Studying a VCE subject in Year 10 has as many disadvantages as advantages Electives give opportunities to build:  a base of knowledge and skills;  confidence;  interests and self awareness  options and career plans; VCE Unit 1&2/VET  offers a taste of VCE/VET  engages students who can be challenged  allows students to complete 6 x 3/4units  allows students to apply for a University extension in Year 12

Keep your eye on the end game - And make choices that have long term benefits At school: in addition to structural constraints we consider:  Attendance  Work habits - excellent  Results – B+ average  Overall programme At home: in addition to what has been discussed consider:  Ability to manage the workload/pressures  Confidence  What does the student enjoy studying

 Letters of invitation to apply will be given to students within the next 2 weeks;  If students accept the invitation they need to nominate subject/s of interest;  VCE ‘Lines’ of subjects will be organised based on Year 11 and 12 choices – implications for Year 10 choices;  Student will receive confirmation;
