1 St Peter’s College, Cranbourne
An active learning community

2 “Active learning” means students engage with the material, participate in the class and collaborate with each other. (Stanford University) This means that we expect students to actively participate in their subject selection

3 Year 9 into 10 – So many Options
PRECAL New in This Course is designed to offer students a taster of VCAL in Year 11 Accelerated Designed for students who wish to study 6 subjects in VCE . For students who excel in one area of study VET Two options – Block Release or within the Timetable Electives Up to 4 different electives may be studied Languages No longer compulsory but highly recommended

4 Year 9 into 10 – So many Options – Accelerated EVERY VCE
Is there a subject you are doing particularly well in this year? Is there an area that you are really interested in and would like to study in greater depth? Do you have an idea of your pathway after secondary school? There are many opportunities for you to continue to follow your interests in Year 10. One of these is to choose to complete an accelerated study as part of your elective options. Not all are recommended

5 Year 9 into 10 – So many Options – Accelerated
I can study a subject which really interests me. I will learn about the demands of Year 11 and Year 12 in one subject rather than in five subjects. I may gain a 10% boost to my ATAR score by having six Year 12 subjects rather than five. You need to be able to commit to an increased workload for your VCE subject and be motivated to keep on top of both your Year 10 and VCE subject requirements.

6 Year 9 into 10 – Why Accelerated?
Experience a VCE workload in preparation Bank a score towards your ATAR Experience VCE examination conditions Extend yourself in an area of interest Possibly gain a bonus towards your ATAR

7 Year 9 into 10 – What Accelerated is NOT
Not an opportunity to have a study line in Year 12 Not an excuse to slow down with Year 10 studies Not recommended for ALL VCE subjects but is in reality AVAILABLE for all VCE units Not available in combination with VET Block release
