What is Ebola?

Ebola is a severe, often fatal, illness that spreads by human to human transmission. The current outbreak began in West Africa in March 2014.

The World Health Organization has said this is the largest outbreak since the disease was first discovered.

The highest numbers of infections and deaths are in Liberia, Sierra Leone and Guinea. These are countries with very weak health systems and little infrastructure to deal with this kind of crisis.

Case counts for countries with widespread transmission: Liberia 6,878 Sierra Leone 5,586 Guinea 1,919 Total 14,383 Over 5,000 people have died from the disease, mainly in West Africa.

What is World Renew doing in response to Ebola?

World Renew is focusing on providing: Health training Medical equipment Pastoral care in Liberia, Sierra Leone and Guinea in cooperation with our partners.
