The Complete Paragraph to the Complete Essay?  Topic Sentence  Supporting details (Three is a good number.)  Concluding Sentence to

1. Introductory Paragraph If you have read the Percy Jackson and the Olympians books, you know that Percy has been through a lot and found out that he can do a lot. He has learned how to find his way around the world of men and the world of of gods and monsters. He has made many friends in the world of gods, and he has learned to control his considerable powers. However, in Rick Riordan’s newest book, The Son of Neptune, Percy Jackson starts out lost, lonely, and unsure of himself.

2. Body Paragraph #1 First Percy is lost because he has amnesia. He had awakened in the Wolf House two months before, not knowing who or where he was. He has been wandering around California, not even knowing if he has ever been there before. His “homing radar” is telling him that he is close to the end of his journey, but he can not figure out how that can be.

3. Body Paragraph #2 Second, he is lonely because he is not with and does not really remember his friends. He does feel a vague sadness about Annabeth. He can remember her, but this memory is “frustratingly dim.” Also, as he does find a group that could be his friends, he discovers an ages-old rivalry, and these new “friends” seem to just want him dead.

4. Body Paragraph #3 Third, he is unsure of himself. He has learned during the past few days that his body can take more than is normal, but he does not know how much. He does not know if he would die, or be seriously hurt, or be unharmed if he fell eighty feet, trying to get away from the Gorgons. In addition, his internal radar is telling him he’s found the place he is supposed to be, but also that it is dangerous, enemy territory. He does not know or remember enough to decide which part of the radar to follow. He is unsure of himself.

5. Concluding Paragraph As you finished the earlier Percy Jackson books, you probably thought Percy would be helped by all that he had learned and experienced. However, even through Percy has been through many adventures before, amnesia has left him lost, lonely, and unsure of himself at the beginning of Riordan’s latest, The Son of Neptune.
