Percy lived in New York City with his mother and step-father. The setting of this story takes place in and around the world. The time period was of the modern-day. Most of the story took place in the Gods world where Percy was trying to solve his problem.
Percy Jackson-the main character of the story, was a very determined individual and never gave up on his friends or his love for swimming. He believed in doing the right thing. He started off as being nervous, but gained his courage through the help of his friends. He has blue eyes, dark brown hair, and not that muscular. Percy was the son of Poseidon. Annabeth Chase- the daughter of Athena. She is a protector to all of her friends and others. She loves danger and isn’t afraid of a challenge. He is the protector of Percy on his adventure to find who stole the lightning bolt. He has black hair, goat legs, human body, and brown eyes. He is a very humble individual and loves his friends.
The problem in this story is how the lightening bolt that belongs to the God of all Gods, Zeus, ruler of Olympus and God of the sky comes up missing. Percy is accused of stealing the bolt. It is up to Percy to get the bolt back to it’s rightful owner before a war between the Gods began.
Percy finds the lightening bolt and is captured by Hephaestus (Haiti), the God of fire. Hephaestus wants the bolt so that he could become the ruler of the Gods. His wife hits him with a stick in order to free Percy and his friends but there are only three magic ball to take them back to the real world. Grover chooses to stay in order to allow Percy’s mother and Annabeth to go back to earth with Percy. Later Percy finds that the bolt has been in his possession the entire time. They leave to return the bolt to Zeus. Percy returns the bolt to Zeus and was given permission to speak to his father for the first time. His father lets him know how proud he is of Percy.
My opinion of this book is that it was a great book. The way the author was able to use real-life and fantasy was awesome. I think this is one of the best books I’ve ever read. I believe the book was better than the movie because it allowed me to use my imagination and see what the author was thinking.
