Community Collaboration Bridging the Gap So none of our children Fall through the cracks…

Since 2007, the Food Bank of Central & Eastern North Carolina at Wilmington and WRAAP have partnered to facilitate a Kids Cafe program near the Creekwood Community with support from UNCW Health & Applied Human Sciences Department and Ebenezer Missionary Baptist Church. CORE COMPONENTS  Academic Enrichment  Mentoring  Nutrition Education  Nutritious Meals  Physical Activity  Parental Empowerment

In 2009, with funding from the United Way of the Cape Fear Area, PPD, Inc., and the Food Bank of Central & Eastern North Carolina at Wilmington. Communities in Schools of Cape Fear can continue to provide pre- prepared food through our BackPack Program to children who would normally go home to empty pantries. New Hanover County Schools have helped us identify children that could be falling through the cracks. We have worked with school counselors, social workers and teachers to provide a safety net for the children in our community.

In the 4-County area covered by the Food Bank of Central & Eastern North Carolina at Wilmington, we have over 56,000 neighbors at risk of hunger. 30% of these neighbors at risk are children!
