What happens if a species fails to adapt to its environment? Mr. P Life Science

What do you think? What happens if a species fails to adapt to its environment?

Share with your Partner What happens if a species fails to adapt to its environment?

Share with the class What happens if a species fails to adapt to its environment?

They go Extinct X

So what should we do?

Should we save all of the species?

Plankton

What does Plankton do? It captures light and turns it into energy It is food for many sea organisms

What eats the sea organisms?

What eats the small fish

So what would happen if…. The phytoplankton could not adapt to the environment changes? Think about it…..

So what would happen if…. The phytoplankton could not adapt to the environment changes? Share with your partner…..

So what would happen if…. The phytoplankton could not adapt to the environment changes? Share with the class….

If plankton go extinct… The plankton are gone…. The sea organisms go extinct…. The small fish go extinct…. The large fish go extinct… The ocean is emptier… So plankton are important and demonstrate that species that go extinct could have big impacts on others

So what causes extinction 1) Failure to adapt to the environment 2) Humans are impacting the environments, making them harder to live in for other species

Burmese Pythons in Florida

Zebra Mussels

What about the future?
