Strategic Targets for 2016 to deliver a minimum growth of 60% in tourist revenue with a target of achieving 80% grow tourism-related employment to 40,000 increase capacity by 3,000 premier hotel bedrooms

Key Priorities Image and Brand: a positive and unique image is a key influencer. People: Glasgows citizens are the citys greatest asset and must benefit from tourisms growth. Place: place attractiveness, accessibility and quality of environment are competitive drivers for a successful tourism destination. Product: this must be fresh, distinctive, innovative and appealing to target markets.

Accommodation In the last seven-year period Glasgow has witnessed significant growth in the scale and profile of its accommodation stock. This has increased by 40% with 69 new accommodation properties including new-build hotels, self-catering units and commercial hostel operations. There are now over 10,000 hotel rooms available in Glasgow and over 17,000 rooms in the wider city region.

Visitor Attractions Glasgow attractions generate over 30% of all visits to Scottish visitor attractions, over three million visits annually. They contribute to the citys reputation as a centre for culture which has existed since the 19th century and which was reinforced with its designation as the European City of Culture in This reputation has been further enhanced with the creation of new or improved visitor attractions such as the Riverside Museum, Glasgow Science Centre, Kibble Palace and Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum which is located in picturesque Kelvingrove Park, one of Glasgows 70 open spaces and parks.
